uploading difficulty
We've tried and tried again to upload pictures, but unfortunately all the internet connections we've come across are too slow to do this. We will continue to post text. When we return we promise to upload lots of images to accompany the text, so keep coming back. We are shocked to realize we only have ten more days in Nigeria.

I ALSO SENT THIS TO JENN!!!
Just wondering - if you guys were to back up your photos first, then open them with the PAINT program, you can save them as smaller files and maybe be able to post them to the blog!
You have to go to the START button, then All Programs --> Accesories--> PAINT.
1. Open Paint
2. From the menu, choose FILE --> OPEN and choose the photo you want to modify
3. From the menu, go to IMAGE --> Stretch/Skew
4. Reduce the size of the picture to 25% (or less) of the original..., click OK... (you will see that the picture size is reduced)
5. From the menu, choose FILE--> SAVE AS... (be sure not to click SAVE) Put the picture in a location other than the original, and make sure that JPEG is selected as the saved file type...
Using this method will reduce the file size and create a smaller picture, but it will move much faster than the original when using dial up. After you reduce the size, go the folder that you saved the reduced image to, and right click on that picture to look at the properties.
Here you will see the size of the file (in KB - kilobytes). If you can reduce the picture size to about 300kb or less (1024kb is 1 Mega Byte), this would probably be pretty usable over dialup...
Give it a try if you get a chance, but I'd do this before getting to the internet cafe....
Note from Sherman:
I don't know if this will help Lisa but if you think it will. I saw on National Geographic some of the remote parts of Africa are now being supplied with plastic reusable bottles. They fill them with water and lay them on the tin roof on a rock wall and the sun purifies the water by killing the bacteria. I'm no expert but someone may have seen this that is with Jenn's group.
Take care
Thanks
Sherman
